Royal Hobart Golf Club Head Professional Matthew Docking, provides individual, group, team building and junior coaching to golfers of all skill levels. Matthew is a certified member of the PGA of Australia and 3 time Australian PGA Professionals Champion. Matthew is able to help with all of your golfing needs.

Using V1 coaching software in conjunction with Flightscope X3 launch monitor Matthew is able to ensure your game is on the improve along with being able to provide the data to give you the confidence to succeed.

Matthew’s teaching philosophy is to keep it simple and focuses on Grip, Posture and Balance. Every swing is different but these 3 keys are essential to ensuring you swing the club effectively. Using simple effective communication Matthew’s coaching style is very easy to understand and each session is a fun experience and through this approach great results have been achieved by his students.

Royal Hobart Golf Club Assistant Professional Scott Laycock is also on hand to provide individual and group coaching to golfers of all abilities. Scott has been a Professional since 1994 playing a season on the US PGA Tour in 2003 and spending 8 year on the Japan Golf Tour including being Rookie of the Year in 2000 and winner of the Bridgestone Open in 2002.

Scott has played three of Golf’s majors, the 2002 and 2007 Open Championship, the 2002 PGA Championship and recent winner of the 2018 PGA Professionals Championship at Hamilton Island.

Scott’s coaching philosophy is to keep it simple by focusing on grip and setup which effects club path and club face. Through many years of playing and coaching he believes that each golfer learns differently and therefore takes a very individual approach to each lesson.

Andrew has recently completed his PGA Traineeship at Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne. He has returned to Tasmania to further his career as a member of the team here at Royal Hobart Golf Club. Andrew is available for lessons on a Thursday.

Andrew's coaching philosophy is to ensure your fundamentals are correct to set yourself up for success with each shot. Coaching the individual and their needs ensuring that a simple clear message is delivered to each client.
